Where is God in Bad Times?
I heard from a radio commentator yesterday calling this world “messy and crazy “while in another magazine, David Fitch wrote in his article entitled “Breaking Free From the Enemy-Making Machine” saying, “We’re living in angry times. Wherever we go . . . The hate in our culture is appalling . . . (even professing) Christians go at each other on social media.” Yesterday morning, my Bible reading in 2Tim. 3:2 was about the signs of the last days that says “people are proud, stuck-up, rude, and disobedient to their parents . . . ungrateful, godless, heartless, and hateful…they have no pity” Just over the weekend, Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke responded to the shooting inside Walmart in El Paso, Texas saying, “We have to find some reason for optimism and hope.” Within 24 hrs. after that shooting, there was another shooting in Ohio that took more innocent lives.

Until now in spite of all the wonders which are awesomely and amazingly displayed by the Invisible and Invincible God, for many, living a free life apart from God is still a choice. Last night, while reading the fancy glitters and glamour of Hollywood, my eyes were unfolded to a godless world that is full of deceit exposing why God has to reveal to mankind through the Scripture the horrible and eternal rising torment in hell prepared by God for Satan and his demons and to all those who follow them so that man whom God has made in His own image will have a godly fear that will make them wise to choose God’s way (Proverbs 1:7).

What I read last night about the sin of Hollywood justifies my Evening Bible reading in the Book of Ezra Chapter 9 and 10 that revealed the wrath of God against intermarriage of His Chosen Israelites with foreigners surrounding them. God gave this command to the Israelites whom God called to start from this small nation the restoration of the broken image of man because of sin. Intermarriage caused them to sin against God by doing the foreigner’s disgusting sin (Ezra 9:1-2). God brought them to a land that is filled with milk and honey to make them strong and enjoy the good things in the land and not only for them but for their children and their children’s children (Ezra 9:12). But they failed and suffered the consequence of disobedience (Ezra 9:6-7) to teach us as a lesson that will make us wise in making life choices.

Where is God when all these scary things are happening in our time? Prophet Hosea has a beautiful and so inspiring answer in his book Chapter 5:15 that God is in His Holy Throne waiting for sinners to turn to Him and call upon His name. He quoted God’s Word saying, “Then I will go back to My place until they admit their guilt. And they will seek My face; in their misery they will earnestly seek Me.” Prophet Jeremiah wrote God’s Word concerning this matter in his book Chapter 29:12-13 which says, “Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.” While watching JHM this morning, Matthew Hagee said “God invested His Son Jesus Christ for us.” God took the risk of investing the life of His own Son to redeem us from the hands of the Destroyer of our body and soul so that God can give us His Spirit (Titus 3:6) as our Helper to lead us back to our senses and turn to Him and learn the Truth and set us free from the trap of the devil who makes man obey him instead of obeying God (3Tim. 2:26).

Hebrews 11:24-27, “By faith Moses ... regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward. By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he persevered because he saw Him who is invisible.”
