Your Agenda or God's Agenda?
The fact that we are not in control of our future and watching the world heading towards a very negative scenario for the worst, my Bible reading from Isaiah 10:3 the other day is a warning worth heeding by heart to avoid unredeemable and bone piercing regret later. Addressing to people who are not mindful of God’s word Isaiah said, “What will you do on the day of reckoning, when disaster comes from afar? To whom will you run for help? Where will you leave your riches?”

Likewise, King Solomon painstakingly warned us in Proverbs 1:24-33 saying, “But since you refuse to listen when I call and no one pays attention when I stretch out My hand, since you disregard all My advice and do not accept my rebuke, I in turn will laugh when disaster strikes you; I will mock when calamity overtakes you—when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you. “Then they will call to Me but I will not answer; they will look for Me but will not find Me, since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord. Since they would not accept My advice and spurned My rebuke, they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes. For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them; but whoever listens to Me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.”

The psalmist said in Psalm 19:1, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.” Hence, the Apostle Paul declared that man has no excuses not to hearken to God’s instruction in the Scripture. Romans 1:19-20 says, “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – His eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.” And Moses wrote after the 6-day creation in Genesis 1:31a, “God saw all that He had made, and it was very good.” This is a clear indication that in God’s agenda, He created everything beautiful and made everything man’s enjoyment before He put Adam and Eve in the glorious Garden of Eden. But it was hindered when Adam and Eve departed from God’s agenda and yielded instead to Satan’s agenda for self- prominence and desiring the glory which belongs only to God.

Praise God because He did not stop loving us and is determined to reconcile us back to Him by sending us His Son Jesus Christ to redeem us by His Shed Blood on the Cross. It is God’s revealed agenda that will give us hope which is the only assurance for man’s deliverance from the pit of hell.

Yet until now, mankind is still divided between God’s agenda and evil-infected man’s agenda. One time, thousands of people were following Jesus begging for His miracle but Jesus showed them instead the real need of man which is His Life. Nailed-focused to their own agenda, they turned their back on Jesus and left Him. Then Jesus asked the twelve who stayed, “Do you want to go away as well?” But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:67-68).

I remember our Bible Study leader telling us about man’s own agenda, just because of bread they went to hell knowing that without Jesus in their hearts no one can enter heaven.

How about you? What agenda do you want to prevail in your life?
