Is there any legacy much better than the fear of the Lord?
When I was looking for a text that I will read for our devotional time last night, Proverbs 14:26 caught my eye with dazzling delight. The message gives every believer full confidence of peace and joy in the midst of the chaos we are in. It says, “In the fear of the Lord one has strong confidence and His children have a refuge.”

It has been proven that fear of man is devastating and most of us don’t want to admit how serious its oppression can be. It is a snare that puts us into different kind of bondages and become slaves to sin. It is Satan’s force to drag us away from God’s hedge of protection if we will allow fear to overwhelm us. Fear of man can immobilize us when we should take action and forces to be silent when we should speak. It can drain all God’s resources of joy and peace which are available to all those who choose to dwell under His full command. Fear can make us man-pleaser. We are to fear God instead whose reward of approval we desire most, for He alone is to be feared.

When we fear God, we give HIM full control to bend our craving from wallowing in the mud of destruction to total obedience to His perfect will as the only way we can accomplish His wonderful plan for our lives to display His splendor here on earth and more importantly in our life hereafter when He is done transforming us from glory to glory, from a corrupted mind to a sanctified life (2Cor. 3:18). God is determined to glorify us together with His Son in the end (Romans 8:28-30). Halleluijah!

Recounting Proverbs 14:26, is there any legacy that the parents can live to their children much better than the fear of the Lord? Absolutely, there is none. All other else in this world will perish but the fear of the Lord alone can build their trust in God’s wonderful plan to bring them back to our eternal home, the glorious kingdom of our Redeemer, the Son of God whom He love so much.

Prov. 29:25 says, “Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe.”
