Lent is the Key to Happiness
History tells that since the fall of man, man has started wandering aimlessly, and missing God’s plan for his life. Instead of looking for means and ways how to get back into the presence of God, man continues to listen to Satan who relentlessly entices people with his seemingly harmless tools like pleasures, power, money, career, fame, possessions, even our loved ones and etc. Of course they are not bad by itself. But if we will allow Satan to use them in order to block our way of coming and listening to our Good Lord, they can surely kill not only our body but even our soul. Once we succumb to his temptation then he will catch us in his trap in order to destroy us with his evil intent to bring us to hell if possible.

Most people do nothing but listen to Satan’s tricks. People are more enthusiastic with the updates in the fashion world for man’s acceptance but don’t care of God resulting to a confused and dissatisfied life.

God has already made His big part which is not possible by human effort. That is to send His Son to die on the cross in our stead. His death is our atoning sacrifice to be cleansed from all our iniquities so that we can come to our God the Father blameless, faultless and without sin (Col. 1:22) which is the reason of lent.

Ours is now to pay close attention to His word if we want to enjoy life unaffected by this crooked and wicked world. The Lord says in Psa. 32:8, “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” This calls for a right response recorded in Psa. 123:2, “Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us.”

We as servants of God, are required to pay close attention to His word for us to be able to follow God’s plan in our lives. We can not drive ourselves on our own. We can not make decisions on our own. And it’s all because of our depraved and corrupted heart and mind. We should come to the Lord first and seek His guidance and leading which are available from the Holy Spirit. The problem with man is that the Lord gets all the left-overs. We make all the mistakes but put all the blames on God. Once we can no longer handle the problem resulting to our waywardness, that’s the time that we bring it to the Lord to no avail for man has to suffer the consequence of his own doing apart from God’s divine intervention. We need to look to God constantly for His direction for we can’t underestimate the wiles of Satan to destroy us. We can do that by maintaining our Bible reading, our quiet time, our prayer and living a holy life. It is impossible for a Christian to build up a victorious life apart from God’s instructions. To be happy is to be back to God and remain in the center of God’s will. Lent is the key to happiness. Take it and rejoice!
